Peugeot Key Replacement Melbourne
Peugeot has always done things a little differently. The way they number their models. The way the steering feels. The way they put the instrument cluster on top of the steering column instead of behind it. French.
The keys are no exception. Peugeot uses a BSI (Built-in Systems Interface) module that controls the immobiliser, central locking, and a bunch of other electronic functions. When you're programming a new Peugeot key, you're talking to the BSI. It's not complicated once you know what you're doing, but it's different enough from Japanese or Korean cars that not every locksmith is comfortable with it.
Buzz has been doing Peugeot keys for 22 years. He's comfortable with the BSI. Very comfortable.
Peugeot Key Types We Handle
Flip keys with remote. The signature Peugeot key. Push the button, the blade flips out. Lock, unlock, boot buttons on the fob. Almost every Peugeot sold in Australia over the last 15 years uses some version of the flip key. 207, 308 (T7, T9), 3008 (P84), 2008, Partner, flip key central.
Smart key / keyless entry. Newer 3008, 5008, and 508 models offer a proximity smart key. Carry it in your pocket, press the button on the door, push to start. These are becoming more common as the fleet ages into the smart-key era.
Transponder keys (non-remote). Older models like the 206 and 306 used a basic transponder key. Metal blade, chip, no remote. Turn and start. Simple but still needs BSI-compatible programming.
Remote keys (non-flip). Some Peugeot models had a remote key without the flip mechanism. Less common, but still around.
The BSI Module: What You Need to Know
The BSI is Peugeot's central electronics brain. It manages the immobiliser, but it also controls the wipers, lights, instrument cluster, and various other systems. When a new key is programmed, the BSI learns the key's transponder code.
Why does this matter for you? Because if the BSI has issues, key programming can get complicated. An experienced operator knows how to work with the BSI, including resets, pin-code extraction, and module communication. An inexperienced one might struggle.
Buzz has been dealing with Peugeot BSI modules for over two decades. It's not exotic to him, it's Tuesday.

Peugeot's Dealer Network: Thinner Than You Think
Peugeot's dealer presence in Melbourne is small compared to the big Japanese brands. There are fewer Peugeot dealers, they're spread further apart, and getting a key replacement booked can involve a wait that stretches well beyond what's reasonable.
Some former Peugeot dealers have closed or merged. The ones that remain are busy and key replacement is a low-priority job. This is a common story with European niche brands in Australia, the dealer network just isn't built for convenience.
Quick Car Keys doesn't rely on a dealer network. Buzz comes to you, wherever your Peugeot is. Same-day, mobile, 3-year warranty. No scrambling across town to find a dealer with availability.
