Subaru Key Replacement Melbourne
Subaru owners are a loyal bunch. Once you go Subaru, you tend to stay Subaru. The Forester, the Outback, the XV, these are cars people keep for a long time and genuinely love.
Melbourne's outer east is Subaru country. The Dandenongs, the Yarra Valley, the Hills district. All-wheel drive, decent ground clearance, and the boxer engine doing its thing. These cars suit the lifestyle out that way.
What doesn't suit the lifestyle is paying $400-$700 at a Subaru dealer for a key replacement. Or waiting 3-5 business days. Or towing the car to the dealer because you've lost your only key somewhere on the Warburton Trail.
Buzz comes to you. Wherever your Subaru is. Same-day, 3-year warranty, fair price.
Subaru Key Types We Handle
G-chip transponder keys. Subaru has used Toyota-platform G-chip transponder technology across much of its range. Metal blade with a G-chip in the head. This connection to Toyota's transponder family is a result of Toyota's ownership stake in Subaru. Common on Impreza (GE, GJ), Forester (SH, SJ), Liberty (BM, BN), Outback (BR, BS), and XV (GP).
Remote head keys. Physical key blade with integrated remote lock/unlock buttons. Standard on most Subaru models from the late 2000s onward. Forester, Outback, Impreza, XV, this is the key most Melbourne Subaru owners carry.
Smart key / proximity key. Newer Forester (SK), Outback (BT), XV/Crosstrek, Impreza (GK/GT), and WRX (VB) models use a proximity smart key. Keep it in your pocket, push to start. These use an updated version of Subaru's access system.
Standard keys (non-transponder). Some very old Subarus (pre-2000) used a simple metal key with no transponder. Rare these days but still out there.

The Toyota Connection
Here's a piece of trivia that matters for your wallet. Toyota owns a significant stake in Subaru. They share platforms and technology. The Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 are literally the same car with different badges.
More relevant to key replacement: Subaru uses Toyota-derived transponder technology in many of its models. The G-chip found in Subarus is from the same family as Toyota's G-chip. This means experience with Toyota keys directly translates to Subaru keys.
Buzz has been doing Toyota and Subaru keys for 22 years. The shared DNA means deep familiarity with both. It's not a coincidence that we list them side by side.
WRX and BRZ: The Enthusiast Keys
WRX and BRZ owners tend to be more hands-on with their cars than the average Forester driver. Modifications, track days, the whole deal. The keys for these models are the same platform as the regular Subaru range, no special "performance key" or anything exotic.
If you're a WRX owner who's been quoted a premium because "it's a performance car", that's not a real thing for key replacement. The key for a WRX is the same technology as a Forester. Call us.
Why Not the Subaru Dealer?
Subaru dealers in Melbourne are good. The brand's loyal customer base means the dealers tend to be responsive and competent. But key replacement still comes with dealer overhead, the showroom, the service department queue, the parts ordering process.
$400-$700 at the dealer. 3-5 business days if they need to order a blank.
Quick Car Keys: mobile to your location, same-day, fair price, 3-year warranty on parts and labour. Buzz has done more Subaru keys than most Subaru service advisors have seen.
